When he wasn't at the local skate park he was watching skate videos and became interested making his own. His talent behind the camera was immediately apparent. In Angel's work you can see that his eye developed in world untethered to that of the traditional bike industry aesthetic. Calm and generous, Angel is the guy behind the camera that has helped share Squid Bikes with the world. Oh, and he shreds too.

The search for a unique experience in life is the driving force behind Nico’s cycling and is what keeps him constantly pedaling forward. Nico Deportago-Cabrera began his career in cycling as a bike messenger in Chicago, IL in 2008. What started as a casual flirtation with the downtown hustle turned into an intensive immersion in the fixed gear messenger culture and lifestyle. Messenger work led to messenger races and those races became the foundation for an alternative approach to the traditional career as a professional cyclist. While his roots remain firmly planted in the streets that shaped him, Nico’s palmares in cycling span a diverse set of disciplines. Be it gravel grinders like Dirty Kanza, ultra-endurance races like the Transcontinental, the inner-city alleycat races like Monstertrack or cutty Tracklocross events in empty fields, Nico can be found fully stoked and at the front of the pack.
